Buzz Aldrin to join Space Expedition Corporation´s board

Amsterdam, 18 July 2013, Earlier today, Space Expedition Corporation (SXC) announced that Second Man on the Moon and living space exploration icon Buzz Aldrin will be their new honorary member of The Advisory Board. Aldrin will play an active role in the company's final preparations for their first planned Spaceflight with commercial participant-astronauts end of 2014.

Aldrin: 'Having had the privilege of serving my country both in the US Air Force and during the Gemini 12 and Apollo 11 missions, I feel that there is nothing more thrilling than Space and all the possibilities that it offers us. For a long time it has been my personal mission through my ShareSpace Foundation to share the wonders of Space with people of all ages and to foster affordable Space travel opportunities for everybody. SXC, together with XCOR Aerospace, who designed and built the Lynx spacecraft and will perform the space flights, aims to facilitate Space flight experiences, expand human exploration and advance Space science education. They are a great team and I am very supportive of their vision to make space flight available to all.'

I feel it's a huge honour to have a man like Buzz endorsing our project. Literary we are over the moon!'

Space Expedition Corporation (SXC)

From 2014 on, Space Expedition Corporation (SXC) will perform daily commercial flights into space. SXC offers participants a life-changing experience in viewing our planet Earth from 100 kilometers high. Plus, having been at that altitude, they can rightly be called astronauts. XCOR Aerospace in Mojave, California, USA, designed and built the Lynx spacecraft, which will perform the space flights. SXC is proud to be the launching customer of the Lynx, which comfortably takes off and lands like a normal airplane, from regular airports. The flexibility of the Lynx spacecraft enables operation from almost any commercial airport. Most likely, the Curacao airport in the Caribbean will be the first location – and Spaceport – outside the USA. XCOR and SXC have sold over 250 tickets so far.
