Open Skies between Brazil and the United States arrives in 2015

The Department of Transportation of the United States (DOT) yesterday presented a proposal for a further 28 new flights between Brazil and the United States, confirming the Guarulhos airport in Sao Paulo, Brazil as the main destination. Flights will be 14 later this year and the other by the end of 2014, since in 2015 will enter into force the Open Skies agreement signed between the two countries in 2011. With this, companies may seek new routes, without reciprocity.

Of large companies, American Airlines and U.S. Airways in fusion process should receive half of the routes, seven this year. The rest will be with Delta, as United did not ask new lines for the country. The new flights will connect Sao Paulo to Los Angeles, Atlanta, Detroit and Charlotte. The DOT did not allow flights to Chicago and Philadelphia.
